Stewart an Old Andrean and Deputy Head Boy served on the Grahamstown Municipal Council for 20years and was elected Mayor of the city for two terms of office. He was also a founder member of the 1820 Settler’s Monument. Stewart was awarded the Paul Harris Award by Rotary for ‘Service above Self”.
